Speech, 1965 Mar. 24, delivered over the Montgomery, Ala., television station WKAB. Discusses salvation, the illegitimacy of preachers being involved in the civil rights movement, which he describes as ungodly and creating racial discord and low moral conduct. Porterfield asserted that calling Martin Luther King reverend was sacreligious, and promised to treat Gov. George C. Wallace, Sheriff James G. Clark, and other civil authorities with courtesy, and to honor them. He also spoke out against the Selma to Montgomery march.
